How communities are safeguarded?

Every community at HealthUnlocked has its own ethos, rituals and language. To recognise the uniqueness of every community, when safeguarding the communities we use a layered approach to allow us to:
  1. Standardised expectation of members' behaviour and contributions 
  2. Detailed guidelines to navigate every community space on the platform 
Point one is available through out Terms of use. We have create a summary below of HealthUnlocked's Terms of use, and specifically section 8. Acceptable use here. As a complement, members can find our Misinformation Policy here.

Community Guidelines posted by each community moderation team that regulate their unique space can be found on "Pinned posts" within the Posts section.

Professional Health Information

The information posted on HealthUnlocked can support, but  will not replace the relationship between you and your doctor or any other healthcare professionals. Information from this site may inform your discussions as well as the exploration of treatment options with your healthcare professionals. You should always consult a healthcare professional if considering changing your medication or treatment or in case of an emergency.

Community Atmosphere

Your participation in HealthUnlocked should be with respect, honesty, and in the spirit of supporting and learning from your fellow members. 

HealthUnlocked is not a forum to create negative impressions about identifiable individuals. Negative and damaging references to identifiable individuals. We hope that members will respect the right of other members to present their individual health experiences, regardless of whether or not they are in agreement, and that all disagreements will be expressed considerately.

Posting Content 

Any contributions - posts, replies, votes, private messages - submitted on HealthUnlocked should be understood as being the views of that individual and does not necessarily represent the views of a particular patient group or of HealthUnlocked as a company. 

As a member of HealthUnlocked, you agree to share information that is true and correct to the best of your knowledge and you agree to contribute with information that is primarily drawn from your personal experience. You always maintain the option of deleting any content you have submitted at any time. 
When you publish information from third party sources, such as information about new treatments, you are asked to provide references and links wherever possible. 

Enforcing Terms of Use or Community Guidelines

Members registered on HealthUnlocked are encouraged to highlight content via our "Report" feature displayed for every post, reply, private message and profile.

If a breach of community guidelines or Terms of use is identified, the following actions might be taken:
  • Edition of content
  • Disable the reply feature for the post
  • Deletion of content
  • Contact author of the content
  • Restriction, temporarily or permanent
  • Muting
  • Banning
