Communities moderated by HealthUnlocked
Most HealthUnlocked communities are run by charities, patient organisations, or other trusted partners. However, a small number of communities are moderated directly by HealthUnlocked. These are usually communities where no external organisation is available to manage moderation, or where HealthUnlocked oversees the space to keep it safe and supportive for all members.
What does it mean when a community is moderated by HealthUnlocked?
Whenever a member reports a post, comment, or profile, our team reviews it and takes appropriate action. This may include:
- Removing content that breaks our guidelines
- Sending warnings to users
- Restricting or banning accounts when necessary
- Self-harm or suicidal thoughts
- Medication misuse
- Doxxing or personal information
- Spam or scams
How does moderation work in these communities?
Moderation is carried out through a combination of:
- Automated systems that detect spam, abusive content, and accounts created to cause harm
- Human moderators who review reports, check flagged posts, and make case-by-case decisions
Does HealthUnlocked provide medical advice?
No.
Even in communities moderated by HealthUnlocked, we cannot provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations. If you need medical support, please speak with a qualified healthcare professional.
How can I help keep the community safe?
You can support the community by:
- Reporting posts or comments that seem unsafe, abusive, or inappropriate
- Avoiding giving medical advice
- Sharing personal experiences without telling others what they should do
- Respecting other members' wellbeing and privacy
Need help or have a question about moderation?
If you have concerns about how a community is moderated or think a moderation decision was incorrect, you can contact our support team and we’ll look into it.
We always prefer to have health organisations moderating public communities, so if you would like to recommend one, please get in touch with us.
