Creating community polls
A great way to gain insights and information from your community is to create polls. Polls are also great for engagement as members who normally don’t engage in posts (lurkers) can easily take part.
Some examples of poll questions:
- How did you hear about our charity/organisation?
- How well do you feel your condition has been managed over the last year?
- What was the most significant source of support when you were diagnosed with [the condition]?
- In general, how would you rate your health?
- What affects your participation (posts and comments) in the community? Select all that apply
- Did you know other people living with [the condition] before joining this community?
- What do you find most valuable about the community? Select all that apply.
- At what age were you (or your loved one) diagnosed with [the condition]? (Single answer)
Please note only Partners and Administrators of the community can create polls.
How to create a poll:
- Click on the Write button on your community.
- Select Poll above the title text box.
- Write the question you would like members to answer, as well as corresponding answers. For many questions, it may be appropriate to add an answer option such as "Other (please comment below)".
- Select the Poll Type to choose whether you would like to give members the option to choose just one or multiple answers.
- Click the "Create Poll" button once you have completed creating the poll.
- The poll should now be visible on the right side of your community home screen.
Remember:
When a poll is created, members get an email notification. If you delete the poll, those email notifications will lead to a missing page.
We recommend editing the poll instead. To edit a poll, select the drop down arrow beside your post and select the "Edit" button.
