What Are Archived Communities?

An archived community on HealthUnlocked is a community that has been set to a read-only state. This means that while the content remains accessible, the community is no longer active in terms of new posts or member interactions. Archiving is a way to preserve the valuable content of a community without allowing further activity.

Key Features of an Archived Community

  1. No New Members: No one can join an archived community.
  2. Visibility: Archived communities are not visible in community searches, directories, or recommendations. However, the posts within these communities are still visible and can be accessed.
  3. Posting Restrictions: No new posts can be made in an archived community.
  4. Replies Turned Off: All existing posts have their replies turned off, meaning no new comments can be added.
  5. Badge Removal: All default badges, such as Administrator, are removed from the community.
  6. Onboarding for Visitors: Visitors who attempt to join an archived community will be directed to the community search during the onboarding process.
  7. Content Accessibility: Posts from archived communities can still be viewed, searched, and indexed by Google.

Archiving is a way to maintain the valuable content of a community while preventing further activity, ensuring that the information remains available for users who may benefit from it.
