Cyber bullying and trolling

Cyber bullying and trolling may be considered a criminal offence under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 and/or the Malicious Communications Act 1988.

HealthUnlocked takes allegations of cyber bullying and trolling seriously, and will work actively in co-operation with the police and the Crown Prosecution Service (“CPS”) in relation to cases where it is alleged that criminal offences have been committed by the sending of a communication via social media.

HealthUnlocked considers it a duty of care to its members to assist police and CPS investigations which includes providing evidence that may support a prosecution and result in a conviction, which may carry a prison sentence.

HealthUnlocked works with its partners (non-profit health organisations, patient groups, hospitals etc) to ensure that HealthUnlocked Communities are only used for lawful purposes in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and codes of practice in the UK or in any other jurisdiction from where the site is accessed.
